Shopping Assistance

Shopping Assistance Program

This is a service designed to provide support to an older person who is isolated because of physical and/or cognitive limitations. It is not intended for the individual who has family support or other means of obtaining groceries.

There are options for how the service is provided based on what the needs are:

  • OFA provides a staff member to shop on behalf of the older person. This is done for individuals who cannot leave their home or who have great difficulty in doing so.
  • OFA provides a staff member to transport an individual to the grocery store and assist with the collection and purchase of groceries.
  • OFA provides a staff member to transport the individual to the grocery store and assists in retrieving items off high shelves or in lifting heavy items.
  • The OFA staff member will assist in carrying the groceries into the home upon return and will assist with putting the groceries away as needed.

This is a contribution-based service. The requested contribution is $3.00 per assistance/trip.
