Youth Bureau Overview
The Schuyler County Youth Bureau was established in 1977 for the purpose of planning, coordinating and supplementing the activities of public, private and religious agencies devoted to the welfare and protection of youth. Programs are provided for both the general youth population and those with special needs, up to age 21.

The Bureau is a branch of the County Government and local liaison for the New York State Office of Children and Family Services.

One role of the Youth Bureau is as a funding stream for programs. The funding is received through the state Office of Children and Family Services, federal grants and private grants. Another role of the Youth Bureau is to monitor the use of the funds that are given to the different agencies.

The Youth Bureau also is responsible for assessing the needs of the youth of the community, plan for those needs, and network with other agencies concerning those needs and possible programming for those needs and the funding source for the programs.
